Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Farstep runs almost entirely on your iPhone. There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours holding your data. We cannot see which apps you choose to block. Your map, quests and streak live on your device. The only data that leaves it is anonymous usage analytics and, if you subscribe, what Apple and RevenueCat need to manage the subscription. This page explains each.

Farstep is operated by Oswaldo Luiz de Souza Ferreira, registered in Brazil under CNPJ 26.588.858/0001-02, Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ. Contact: [email protected]

What Farstep does not do

App blocking (Screen Time)

Farstep uses Apple's FamilyControls, DeviceActivity and ManagedSettings frameworks, part of iOS Screen Time, to block the apps, websites and categories you choose during a quest. When you pick them in Apple's picker, iOS gives Farstep an opaque token for each selection, not the app's name, icon or identifier. Farstep cannot read which apps you chose; iOS enforces the block itself. These tokens stay on your iPhone. Farstep only knows how many items you picked.

What is stored on your iPhone

Farstep keeps its state in local storage on your device: your quests (when, how long, completed or turned back), the map you have charted and the places found, the Flame, your music and sound settings, and whether you subscribe. None of it is uploaded to us. If you delete the app, it is deleted with it. Farstep has no cloud backup or sync of its own.

The optional morning reminder is a local notification scheduled on your iPhone; nothing is sent to a server to deliver it.

Anonymous analytics

To learn whether Farstep works (for example, how many quests are completed and where people get stuck), the app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the European Union.

These signals are used only in aggregate to improve Farstep. They are never used for advertising and never combined with data from other sources.

Subscriptions and payments

If you subscribe to the Hero's Oath, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider, which receives an anonymous app-generated ID and the purchase and transaction data Apple provides, so it can tell the app whether your subscription is active. It does not receive your name, email or payment details; Apple handles those under its own privacy policy. See RevenueCat's policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Who receives data

We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved are Apple (App Store purchases, Screen Time, notifications), RevenueCat (subscription status) and TelemetryDeck (anonymous analytics), each for the limited data described above and under their own privacy policies.

Children

Farstep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Farstep does not collect personal information from any user.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data on our own servers, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct or delete beyond what is on your device, which you control, including by deleting the app. Deleting the app also resets the anonymous analytics ID. For anything about a purchase or your subscription history, write to [email protected] and we will help you reach Apple or RevenueCat. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Brazil (LGPD) or another place with similar laws, you may have additional rights over the limited data processed by Apple, RevenueCat and TelemetryDeck; we will help you exercise them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Farstep changes. Changes are posted here with a new date, and significant ones are also noted in the app. If Farstep starts collecting a new kind of data, this policy and the App Store privacy details are updated before that version ships.
